  • About The Silent & Live Auctions

  • The National Tourism Foundation’s 2002 Silent & Live Auctions were outstanding! There was tremendous support from across North America and thanks to the generosity and commitment of travel and tourism professionals, the Foundation raised $127,000 for scholarships, grants and awards. With this great success, the Foundation is looking forward to its 2003 auctions being held at the National Tour Association's Annual Convention in Charlotte, N.C., Nov. 14 – 19. As the travel industry’s premier philanthropic organization, the Foundation depends almost entirely on outside funding for its many programs and projects. The support of companies and individuals in the industry has enabled the Foundation to:
    • award more than 400 scholarships, grants and awards to students in travel- and tourism-related fields,
    • give the majority of those 400 scholarship winners the opportunity to attend NTA Annual Conventions for a concentrated look at the packaged travel industry,
    • attend travel trade shows that promote our industry’s assets,
    • award paid internships to students in travel and tourism,
    • administer the new National Tour Association Award for working tourism professionals to continue their education.
Each of these projects is designed to enhance the overall quality of educational opportunities for established industry professionals, the workforce of the future, and the general public. On behalf of the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, we invite you and your company to take part in this increasingly popular and exciting event. Your tax-deductible contribution is an outstanding way to support both the Foundation and the future of the industry. The Foundation’s Silent & Live Auctions are also a convenient and simple way for you to advertise your destination, attraction, hotel, or casino in front of more than 3,000 of the tourism industry’s leading professionals. Several of the benefits of being an auction donor include:
    • coverage in the official auction catalog (or its addendum) containing all pertinent item and donor information,
    • having your item displayed throughout the week of Convention,
    • a Silent Partner ribbon attached to your name badge designating you as a Foundation supporter,
    • being on a list of the Foundation's Silent Partners that is circulated in Courier magazine, and
    • periodic coverage, as space permits, in auction mailings and other promotional pieces.
We hope you will consider making a donation to the Foundation’s 2003 Silent & Live Auctions. Whether you decide to market an existing product or use this opportunity to market something new and unique, the benefits to your company and the Foundation are immeasurable. Be on the lookout this year for further information and updates on the Foundation’s auctions. If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Foundation at 800-682-8886, ext. 4251. We look forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, National Tourism Foundation Special Events Committee
