W. James Host was the first inductee into the National
Tourism Foundation’s Hall of Fame in 1998 for his
unparalleled commitment to the National Tour Association,
the Foundation and the travel industry as a whole.
During the 1998 NTA Annual Convention in St. Louis,
delegates honored Mr. Host at a reception given in his
honor. Attendees made contributions to the Foundation,
with the proceeds going to the Pat & Jim Host Scholarship
The reception was a great success raising $15,000 for the
scholarship endowment. In all, 100 people attended the
event and more than 150 made contributions. The Pat & Jim
Host Scholarship, the Foundation’s only renewable
